Letter to my future self
Dear future self, I hope life & your time here on earth has been kind to you. I hope you’ve found someone who treats you well and sheds light on your life. When you look back on childhood and teenage years, I trust you now realize all the long nights, suffering, and dark days were worth something. You’re accomplished, now you must continue to use the lessons you’ve learned throughout your life to propel you further throughout your future endeavors. Remember to remain kind to yourself and your body because what you went through in college was no easy task. It took a toll on you physically, emotionally, and mentally. It was traumatic, but I hope you’re released from negative inner dialogue, and harmful words spoken to you by others. That you see only the truest version of yourself when you look in the mirror. Call family every day and continue to keep them close. If COVID taught you anything, it’s that you’ve missed monumental event’s, so see family whenever you have the chance. Let them know just how much you love and appreciate them. Life is too short, so never take kindness, your mother’s love, grandma and grandpa’s smile, or your sister’s contagious laugh for granted.
The most important thing I want you to take from this is for you to be fully happy, love deeply, and allow people to see through you. Allow for your wall to be broken down, and learn to let people in. Most importantly understand that you are worthy of giving and receiving love. I hope you’re doing well in life, and that where you are right now, is where you want to be. I hope you received your dream job at a public relations firm in New York City. Thereafter, that you’ve worked your way up to becoming your own boss because like you always said...if you're working for others, you're helping them build their dream, not yours. Build your dream, find what inspires you to go to great lengths. I expect you to try and experience all that life has to offer. The best food, traveling to Bali to visit the Elephant sanctuary, immersing yourself in other cultures than your own, trying new things, taking up a new hobby, finding the love you crave, and allowing yourself to live in the present moment. You tend to always get so wrapped up in the next best thing, learn to live at a slower pace. Adapt to life. The present moment is exactly where you're supposed to be right now. Don’t rush your life. You’re getting older and turning 21 in just two months, so now it’s up to you to create your own fate. May you continue to feel blessed, grateful and remain in a positive mindset. Remind yourself that this life is yours, live it...the rest will follow. Lastly, I have so many questions for your future self....Where are you now? How’s the family doing? Did you ever get your dream job? Are you happy?
